It has five complete classes, a store, two laboratories, an incomplete small kitchen, one modern library, Modern office and Eight VIP toilets.

The school has 65 hectares of land. It’s located in Matangeni sub location, Kipini location, Kipini Division, Tana Delta district, Coast Province in Kenya. The school is located in a serene environment that boosts of well kept small forests with wildlife, 5 Kilometers stretch of Swamp with fish and hippos. The area receives a bimodal rainfall with peak amount recorded in May (169mm). The mean temperature in Kipini varies from 25 Degrees centigrade and 30 Degrees centigrade over the year.

The school started in 1986 as Harambee boarding and day school .It was operating under Kipini primary school. In 1989 the Office of the vice president donated the prison land where it is currently located and immediately the school shifted to the land. It was registered in on 7th July 1989, Registration Certificate No.GP/A/82/89. The school is sponsored by District Education Board (D.E.B) and parents. It was approved as a Public mixed day and boarding that is managed by Board of Governors (B.O.G).

It inherited a well run prison farm endowed with fruit trees and livestock. Since the phase over was not done gradually, there was inadequate capacity to manage the inherited property. This led to vandalism and theft of property by outsiders hence running down the institution.

The school has been managed by five principals since inception. The school management dream is to establish an ‘’academy of excellence that will draw out that which is noblest and finest’’ in the next five years (2009 to 2013 timeline).Although KSS has evolved through years the current management vision and mission will remain the cornerstone of this institution. Each day the school will live out the vision, constantly striving, constantly growing and trying to build a comfortable supportive environment that is in so many ways like home.
